I asked Edgar Spross (actor) if he was interested in doing a photoshoot with me. We didn't have any concept or need for the shoot. We just wanted to play around and experiment. Create something from the moment. Sometime in the middle of our session, Edgar asked what he should do, and what was next. I told him that he should be himself. Some minutes later we were listening to Edgar's playlist from a Bluetooth box and "Order from Chaos - Max Copper" started. I never heard that piece before so I didn't know what would happen. Soon Edgar starts moving and speaking and my camera was in photo mode. I quickly changed to video mode and started recording. No gimbal, and no quality microphone. I froze from my insecurities and stopped the recording. My mind signaled that I was technically not ready for this. But in a fraction of a second, I thought what the hell? There is no other way to capture this experience so I'll better just go with the flow and see what comes out. So I started recording again.
I have the impression that me and Edgar danced together with our mediums. He with his voice, body, and expression, and me with the framing, light, and camera movement. The title of the piece corresponds perfectly with what happened on this day. From not knowing what to do and being trapped by insecurities, to embracing the Chaos and just going with the flow until it becomes Order.
